Saylor Surkamp explores the multi sensory experience of living in a world where technology shapes our experiences, memories and identities. As members of modern society we are bombarded with digital and electronic devices. Surkamp is inspired by the way technology teaches us new ways to process information.

Using application of visual, aural, and auditory noises her work begins to create dialog with the environment. The amplification between these textures allows the work to communicate with and to a space while engaging the viewer in a phenomenological experience.

Through use of event design and installation, and curation she forces the viewer to step into a strategically designed space where the artist controls the way that the audience interacts with the work. Her use of material, functional and aesthetic modes to make fictitious environments come to reality.
